Itzel V. Aguilar (she/elle/ella) is an emerging visual artist based in Delaware and Mexico. She attended the Delaware College of Art and Design in 2009 and was self-taught thereafter. As a mixed media artist, Aguilar expresses her emotions based on generational trauma that affected her life.
Aguilar uses a strong and bold acrylic palette in conjunction with oil pastels, watercolor cutouts, and wool from Oaxaca to balance her artwork and add dimension. This allows the viewer to engage with the pieces as the story unfolds in each one.
In 2023, Aguilar collaborated with GOOD AESTHETIC GALLERY for her first solo exhibition, Nunca Fue Tu Culpa (It Was Never Your Fault). Following the success of the opening reception, her artistic journey is actively growing. Aguilar secured a studio space with the Delaware Contemporary Museum and recently completed the Casa Lu's residency program based in Mexico City.
